The Uttar Pradesh government has taken an important step to secure the future of soldiers serving under the Agnipath scheme. CM Yogi Adityanath has announced that Agniveers who complete their service and return home will get a 20% reservation in Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that young people who are serving the nation through the Agniveer scheme will be given special priority once they finish their duty. To ensure this, the state government has created a provision of reservation in the police recruitment process.
The Chief Minister said, “From next year, Agniveers who come back after completing service will get 20% horizontal reservation in Uttar Pradesh Police. Whoever returns, we will give them a place in the police force. We will provide them opportunities to work and move ahead. If they are giving a guarantee of national security, then it is the government’s responsibility to guarantee their safety and social security. This government stands firmly with them with full commitment.”
Support for Families of Martyrs
Earlier, the Chief Minister had also declared that if any soldier sacrifices his life while guarding the nation’s borders, the government will give his family financial assistance of ₹50 lakh. In addition, they will provide a government job for one family member. A memorial, institution, or road in the martyr’s village or town will be named after him. This will ensure his sacrifice becomes permanent in public memory.
Decision Will Clear Misconceptions About Agnipath Scheme
According to the government, this step will inspire more young people from Uttar Pradesh to join the armed forces under the Agnipath scheme. It will also counter the doubts and misconceptions spread by the opposition about the career prospects of Agniveers. The move will increase the trust of people in both the government and the armed forces.
This decision is not only a recognition of the important role played by Agniveers in national security. It is also a concrete step towards providing them with a stable and respectable career after completing their service in the army.
