The U.P. State Institute of Forensic Sciences, Lucknow, in collaboration with the Police Commissionerate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, organised a workshop titled “Cyber Crime and Data Protection: Challenges and Solutions” on 22 August 2025. The event was held at the Auditorium of the Police Commissionerate Office in Sector 108, Gautam Buddh Nagar. It started at 11:00 AM.
The seminar, held in collaboration with the Police Commissionerate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, focused on the increasing threats posed by cyber crimes. It highlighted the importance of data protection.
Dr. G.K. Goswami, the Founder Director of UPSIFS, emphasised that digital data today is more valuable than money. He highlighted the critical need for robust data security measures. The workshop saw participation from over 250 attendees. It included representatives from the police, banking sector, Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWA), entrepreneurs, and social workers.
The event featured in-depth discussions on forensic laboratories and cyber auditing. Detailed information was shared about forensic labs and mobile forensic units. The workshop also showcased the mobile forensic vans deployed across 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. This reflects the state’s proactive approach to tackling cybercrime.
This awareness workshop was an important step towards educating various stakeholders about cyber threats. It emphasised forensic science’s role in investigations and enhancing collaboration between agencies. These efforts aim for effective cybercrime management and data protection in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Forensic Science Expansion Under Yogi Govt
Previously, on 18 August, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the three-day International Forensic Science Seminar at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow. The summit coincides with the third foundation day of UPSIFS. It has brought together more than 100 forensic experts, academicians, and law enforcement officials from India and abroad.
Over the past eight years, the Yogi Adityanath government has made substantial progress in building forensic infrastructure in the state. This expansion has intensified the fight against crime, increased public trust in the justice system, and opened new career opportunities for young professionals.
