The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of CM Yogi, has set an ambitious target. They aim to make the state a global hub of electronics manufacturing. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to swiftly implement the “UP Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025.” This is to boost the sector and create vast employment opportunities.
In a recent review meeting, the Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the IT and Electronics Department. Uttar Pradesh should become the second-largest mobile manufacturing state after China. The aim is for the state to account for 60% of the country’s total mobile production.
10 Lakh Jobs and 50 Billion Dollar Production Aim
Under the new policy, the state government is targeting electronic hardware production worth $50 billion by 2025. Along with this, the Uttar Pradesh government has committed to generating one crore (10 million) employment and self-employment opportunities in the state.
The state has already made remarkable progress in the electronics manufacturing sector. In 2014-15, the state’s electronics exports were valued at just Rs 1.9 billion. This figure soared to Rs 18 billion in 2024-25. Over this decade, mobile manufacturing investment in the state also jumped significantly to Rs 5.45 lakh crore.
UP Rises as the Mobile Manufacturing Leader
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country’s top state in mobile production, contributing to nearly 60% of India’s total output. The Chief Minister said that global companies are showing increasing confidence in Uttar Pradesh for investing in manufacturing and related services.
He also reviewed employment generation efforts. Nearly 15,000 youth secured jobs through placement drives in the electronics manufacturing sector in the last year alone. The new policy aims to take this momentum even further.
Comprehensive Policy for Investment and Ease of Doing Business
The upcoming policy includes several provisions to attract more investments and make the state business-friendly. The government will build electronics manufacturing clusters with robust infrastructure. These clusters will get an uninterrupted power supply, water, necessary logistics, and administrative help round the clock.
The state will also offer clear, hassle-free procedures for investors. Proposals for the component and hardware sector development will be approved speedily. Special incentives will be given for Paschimanchal (western belt), Purvanchal (eastern belt), and Bundelkhand regions. Additionally, these incentives will extend to industrial zones like Noida and the Yamuna Expressway.
Focus on High-Tech Production and Export
UP’s focus is now on high-value components, electronic chips, and advanced hardware production. The state’s Electronics Manufacturing Policy-2025 also aims to increase exports and position Uttar Pradesh as an international electronics export hub.
Senior officials confirmed that the new policy will also fast-track skill training for the youth in electronics and allied services. The state government targets to connect lakhs of young people with gainful employment over the next few years.
With clear targets, strong policy support, and a proactive approach, Uttar Pradesh is ready to make electronics manufacturing a growth engine for the state. The government’s focus is on large-scale production, job creation, and establishing UP as a preferred destination for global electronics investments.
