Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently highlighted significant improvements in healthcare infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh. In 2017, many districts lacked even a single ICU bed, and critical facilities like digital X-rays, blood banks, and dialysis units were severely limited or absent altogether. Now, in 2025, every district in the state has ICU beds, mini-ICUs, digital X-ray services, blood banks, and dialysis available free of cost to patients. This reflects a massive leap in healthcare accessibility and quality.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme has benefitted over 5.34 crore families with health coverage, and more than 80 lakh patients have availed services under this initiative. The government has spent over âš3,000 crores in collaboration with the central government to provide health insurance and treatment support. Recently, cashless medical facilities have been announced for 11 lakh government teachers and their families, benefiting approximately 55 lakh individuals.
Health Infrastructure in Rural and Urban Areas
Furthermore, the government has focused on modernising health services through digitisation, improved diagnostics, and quality control measures, facilitating timely and transparent medical care. Health infrastructure in rural and urban areas has expanded with over 25,500 health centres offering 14 free diagnostic tests and widespread availability of essential medicines.
The state government has also promoted AYUSH medical education with the establishment of universities and numerous Ayurvedic, Unani, and Homeopathic hospitals and colleges to augment preventive healthcare services.
