In Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that if all departments of Uttar Pradesh work together, the state can witness a surge in job opportunities for the youth. Highlighting the government’s initiatives to connect young people with skills and employment, he emphasised that the recruitment process has now become fully fair and transparent. On Sunday (September 7), at Lok Bhavan, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to 1,510 selected instructors. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making the youth self-reliant. Over the last eight years, under CM Yogi’s leadership, the government has provided more than 8.5 lakh government jobs to young people across Uttar Pradesh.
Transparent recruitment builds trust
CM Yogi stated that the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has strengthened trust by ensuring a completely impartial and transparent recruitment system. Now, candidates get selected purely on merit, without recommendations or corruption. He said the government remains firm on its commitment of “skills for all, jobs for all.” Through the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, trained youth are being connected with industries. This helps them become self-reliant.
The Chief Minister also targeted the previous Samajwadi Party government. He said that nearly 400 years ago, Uttar Pradesh was India’s most prosperous state. Despite facing foreign invasions and the loot by British rulers, at the time of independence in 1947, UP’s economy was still number one in the country. However, after 1960, wrong policies and vote-bank politics pushed the state back. By 2016, its contribution to India’s economy had shrunk to just 8%. “Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was ranked among the bottom five states, but today it stands at number one in most central schemes,” he added.
More opportunities through ITIs and skill training
During the program, Skill Development Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal informed that 286 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are currently running 92 trades with 1,84,280 seats available. In 2022, the Subordinate Services Selection Commission began the recruitment process for 2,406 instructor posts. Out of these, 1,510 candidates have already been selected, and the results for the remaining 341 posts will be announced soon.
In the last eight years, the government has set up over 60 new government ITIs. At present, 324 ITIs are providing skill training to nearly 1.84 lakh students across 82 trades. The Chief Minister further said that to strengthen technical education, the government is rapidly filling vacant posts of principals and instructors. Recently, more than 150 principals and 1,510 instructors have been appointed.
Yogi emphasised once again that the state government is dedicated to linking youth with both skill development and employment. He said Uttar Pradesh, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision, is emerging as a strong hub of employment and training. Opportunities are now given solely on the basis of merit.
