Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 September 2025 launched the “Swasth Nari, Shashakt Parivar Abhiyan”(Healthy Women, Strong Families Campaign) and the 8th National Nutrition Month through video conferencing. This was conducted from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. This campaign will continue till 2 October 2025 and will focus on improving the health of women and children. As part of it, the country will see health camps on a large scale. The focus will be on women’s health, nutrition, vaccination, and awareness. On this historic occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated state-level programs at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scientific Convention Centre in Lucknow.
Smartphones and Honorarium Hike for Anganwadi Workers
CM Yogi announced a major gift for Anganwadi workers. He said they will be given smartphones and their honorarium will be increased. According to him, giving respect to Anganwadi sisters is important so that they can become more self-reliant. He also assured proper training and timely payment for them. This step aims to encourage their service and improve the quality of their work.
Health Camps Across Uttar Pradesh
In UP, 20,324 health camps have been set up across 75 districts. These camps will conduct comprehensive health check-ups for women and children. This includes blood tests, blood pressure, diabetes, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, anaemia, and TB, all free of cost. Special focus will also be given to prenatal care for pregnant women, child vaccination, and awareness programs. In addition, 507 blood donation camps will be organised to encourage youth participation.
Women Empowerment Schemes
CM Yogi highlighted several women’s empowerment initiatives under PM Modi’s leadership. Schemes like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana, Kanya Sumangala, and Nari Shakti Vandan have proved effective. In the last eight years, the UP government has ensured free education for daughters. It has provided ₹25,000 assistance under Kanya Sumangala and ₹1 lakh financial support under the mass marriage scheme. So far, through 1.89 lakh Anganwadi centres and 10 lakh women self-help groups, around 1 crore women have become self-reliant.
Nutrition Mission and Women’s Employment
As part of the campaign, the Nutrition Mission has been strengthened. There are special nutrition programs for children aged 3–6 years. At the same time, through processing plants, about 60,000 women are earning up to ₹8,000 per month. With support from NAFED, efforts are being made to increase this income further. This initiative will not only make women financially strong. It will also improve their health.
