In Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, a Dalit youth faced brutal assault. The incident occurred at Fakirabad crossing in the Sarai Akil police station area. Due to a minor mistake, village head representative Saddam Hussain and his accomplices beat the Dalit youths severely. A video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting swift police action. Police arrested Saddam after an encounter where he was shot in the leg. The other accused fled the scene. Police recovered an illegal pistol and a luxury car from the spot.

Incident and Viral Video

The incident began on Thursday (September 4) afternoon. Chhotu Pasi, a resident of Kharasen Ka Purwa village, went to a grocery shop with his brother and brother-in-law. There, his body slightly brushed against Moeen Ahmad from Kishanpur Ambari village. This small issue sparked a dispute. Moeen called his son, Saddam Hussain, a village head representative. Saddam arrived with his accomplices and brutally beat Chhotu and his relatives with sticks and rods in the middle of the road. The youths sustained serious injuries. They were first taken to a local hospital, then referred to Prayagraj due to their critical condition.

The video clearly shows the accused attacking in a ruthless manner. Passersby felt terrified. The viral video caused an uproar, alerting the police. The victim’s family filed a complaint, leading to a case against Saddam and ten others under the SC/ST Act and other sections at Sarai Akil police station. The Superintendent of Police formed a special team to find the accused.

Police Encounter and Arrest

On Friday (September 5), around 12:30 AM, police received information that Saddam was hiding near Imli village. The team surrounded him. Saddam tried to escape and fired at the police. In response, police shot him in the leg. They arrested him and sent him to the district hospital. Police recovered an illegal pistol, three cartridges, two empty shells, and a luxury car from the scene. DSP Abhishek Singh said the other accused escaped in the dark. Multiple teams are searching for them. Saddam is under treatment, and questioning continues.

This incident highlights how some areas witness deliberate atrocities by Muslims against Hindu Dalits. Police stated they acted promptly upon receiving the complaint. They are taking strict measures to maintain peace in the area. In Muslim-majority and affluent Muslim areas of Uttar Pradesh, such atrocities against Hindu Dalits persist, but under Yogi Adityanath’s government, police are taking swift action against such crimes.
