On a two-day visit to Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting on Sunday (August 24) at the Annexi Bhavan auditorium to review ongoing development projects. During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Anil Dhingra took strict action against five officials who were absent. He ordered a one-day salary deduction for each.

CM Yogi said that mafia rule has been eliminated across the state.
However, complaints about ambulance mafia and middlemen in patient admissions occasionally arise in the medical field. Continuous action is needed to ensure that no new mafia emerges in the sector.
Monitoring and Accountability for Every Project
The Chief Minister instructed that every development project should have a nodal officer responsible for regular monitoring. Any negligence by contractors should lead to strict action. Projects such as flyovers, overbridges, and key markets in Gorakhpur must be completed on time. This must be done with proper quality.
CM Yogi highlighted that development work has created a strong positive image of Gorakhpur across the country. No disruption should be allowed in any project. The District Magistrate was directed to receive progress updates directly from the nodal officers.
Focus on Health and Hygiene
CM Yogi noted that diseases like Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), which were once a major concern in Purvanchal, are now under control. However, constant vigilance is necessary. He instructed officials to run awareness campaigns on dengue and other seasonal diseases. Additionally, cleanliness and public health should be promoted across all urban areas.
Smart City Development and Child Welfare
The Chief Minister emphasised the need for smooth traffic management to match Gorakhpur with other smart cities. Measures should ensure that there is no traffic jam. Also, street vendors must be properly relocated.
Regarding child welfare, CM Yogi instructed that funds provided by the government for school uniforms, bags, shoes, and socks must be used appropriately. Moreover, students should come to school in uniform to maintain discipline. This will promote a positive learning environment.
CM Yogi also reviewed Bal Vatika initiatives for preschoolers and the construction under Project Alankar for secondary schools. He stressed the importance of involving local representatives in visiting and supporting these projects.
The Goradhaiya Nala project to prevent waterlogging was also discussed. CM Yogi called for accelerated work and alternative arrangements if rain delays progress. He directed that firms constructing Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Amrit scheme must maintain them for the next ten years.
