Before Diwali, ODOP Fairs to Showcase Swadeshi Products Across Every District of UP: CM Yogi

CM Yogi Adityanath has said that before Diwali, during this Janmashtami (from October 10 to 18), ODOP (One District One Product) and local product fairs will be organised in every district. This will greatly benefit local artisans and craftsmen, and people will not have to depend on foreign goods.

The CM said that before 2017, Chinese decorative lights dominated the markets. But now, people are lighting earthen lamps. In 2017, for the Deepotsav celebration, 51,000 lamps could not be sourced from the Ayodhya division and had to be collected from across the state. However, last year, all the lamps lit during the event were made in Ayodhya. This year too, a record number of lamps will be lit in Ayodhya, which will be made of clay and cow dung. CM Yogi was addressing the state-level workshop on “Atmanirbhar Bharat – Swadeshi Sankalp” at Vishveshwaraiya Auditorium in Lucknow on September 23.

India once had everything

The Chief Minister said that 300 years ago, half of India’s population was dependent on agriculture and the other half on factories, small-scale and cottage industries. India’s products dominated world markets, and traders from across the globe came here to buy goods. India had everything. But gradually, the production of small industries declined, and India lagged behind in the global market.

Paying the price of foreign models

The CM said that whenever attempts were made to adopt foreign models, India suffered losses. Speaking about Swadeshi, he said that if India’s money remains in India, it will lead to the country’s prosperity. But if this money flows into foreign markets, it will be used to spread terrorism and extremism in India. Therefore, everyone should adopt Swadeshi.

UP as the best model of Swadeshi

The Chief Minister said that from September 25 to 29, the UP International Trade Show will be organised in Greater Noida, which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Exhibitions will run daily from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM. This will benefit India’s industries and artisans and make it easier to export our products. In the last eight years, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has risen from the 22nd position to become the second-largest economy in India.

A campaign to realise the vision

The CM said that Swadeshi is the path to achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The UP government has taken many big steps in this direction. Whenever foreign models are adopted, it becomes dangerous. He emphasised that a foreign model can never provide a permanent solution.

Swadeshi and self-reliance

The Chief Minister said that to make the Swadeshi movement successful, it is very important to involve the youth. Make in India and Make for the World will not only make India a global power but will also open many avenues of employment and income for the youth of the country.
