A Youth From Mathura Threatens to Kill CM Yogi, Fires 6 Rounds in Air and Climbs Roof

-

On Friday (September 19) afternoon, a youth created chaos in Mathura. He recorded a video and uploaded it on social media, issuing a death threat to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Waving a pistol, he said that if his problems were not resolved before September 25, he would shoot CM Yogi and also end his own life. As soon as the video went viral, security agencies and the police immediately sprang into action.

The Youth’s Video and Threat

In the video, the youth appeared half-naked, wearing a chain around his neck and brandishing a pistol. He claimed that if he did not receive help from the Yogi government, he would kill the CM. In the same video, he also showed a copy of his complaint receipt, saying that he had lodged his grievance with the Chief Minister’s Office but no one had listened to him. He further said that his life was already ruined and, if nothing came his way, he would commit suicide and also kill the CM.

The Second Video

After the first video, another surfaced in which the youth said that instead of dying, it would be better to kill CM Yogi before September 25. In this clip, he removed the magazine from his pistol and claimed it contained nine live bullets. He also declared that no matter if the CM had nine bodyguards, he would shoot all of them.

Police Action

Once the video went viral, the police tracked his location to Hardayal village in Mant tehsil. The youth was identified as Sunit, son of Bhagwan Singh. His father was murdered in 2004. He has three brothers and is unmarried.

When police reached his home, Sunit locked himself inside a room with the pistol and later climbed onto the roof. From there, he kept threatening the police. He even moved across the rooftops of neighboring houses, repeatedly firing shots into the air to scare the police. Meanwhile, the police too climbed onto nearby rooftops, trying to corner him.

This standoff lasted for nearly two and a half hours. During this time, the youth fired six rounds in the air. Eventually, the police overpowered him and recovered the pistol and cartridges from his possession.

Police Statement and Further Investigation

Mathura SP (Rural) Suresh Rawat said that the accused, Sunit alias Gatua, had issued a threat to CM Yogi on social media. A case has been registered against him, and he has been arrested. Officials stated that the youth had been under mental stress for a long time and often appeared disturbed. Police are now investigating his mental condition and demands. If required, he will be examined by doctors, and an expert team will be consulted.

The entire incident spread panic in the village and nearby areas, but timely police action prevented a major tragedy.
