Like every year, Aligarh’s BJP leader Ruby Asif Khan is once again in the news for her religious celebrations. Earlier, on Ganesh Chaturthi, she installed an idol of Lord Ganesha in her home, performed rituals with full devotion, and later immersed the idol in Narora after nine days. Now, during Sharadiya Navratri, she has installed an idol of Goddess Durga and begun fasting and worship.
Worship of Maa Durga and Message of Unity
On the first day of Navratri, Ruby Asif Khan performed the ritual of ghat sthapana and started the prayers with incense, lamps, and aarti. Her children also participated in the religious ceremony. She appealed to the people of the country to celebrate festivals without discrimination of religion, caste, or community. She said that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, and Jains are all like one family.
Faith in Hindu Festivals
Ruby Asif Khan shared that since childhood, she has been taught the values of Hindu-Muslim unity. Her maternal home is in the Bodla area of Agra, where people of all religions celebrate festivals together. Her brothers often organise community feasts (bhandaras). That is why, even after marriage, she continues to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, and other Hindu festivals with great enthusiasm.
Controversy Over Threat Letter
In 2024, Ruby Asif Khan received a blood-written threatening letter. It stated that she and the Chief Minister would be blown up with a bomb for celebrating the construction of the Ram Temple. Following this, the police registered a case on the basis of CCTV footage.
