Electricity consumers of the state will face a 2.34% rise in the fuel surcharge of the September bill. The authorities have already included the 0.24% fuel surcharge of May in the August bill. Meanwhile, they will add the 2.34% surcharge of June to the September bill. This hike will recover a total of ₹184.41 crore. Avadhesh Kumar Verma, president of the Electricity Consumers’ Council, said that corporations hold a surplus of ₹33,122 crore from consumers. This surplus can be set off against the fuel surcharge. This adjustment can save consumers from extra payments and also reduce the surplus of corporations.
89 New Transformers Will Be Installed in Jankipuram Zone
The authorities will carry out improvement works worth ₹85 crore to enhance the power supply for 2.95 lakh electricity consumers in the Jankipuram zone of Lucknow.Under this plan, nine substations will get new five-megawatt power transformers. In addition, 80 locations will get small transformers. The tender process is underway. Work is expected to begin in December.
Where Will the Improvement Works Take Place?
The electricity improvement works will cover BKT, Jankipuram, Daliganj, University, Mahanagar, and Sitapur Road areas. The authorities will install new five-megawatt transformers at nine substations, including Lucknow University, GPRA, Ahibarnpur, New University Campus, and Ikka Stand. This installation will eliminate the overloading problem. Additionally, they will create two new 33 kV power lines for the Purnia and Engineering College substations.
Transformer Expansion in Aliganj Colony
Within the Purnia and Goyal substations, 32 locations in Aliganj Colony will get new transformers of 250 and 400 kVA capacity. This will reduce the power crisis faced by consumers there. In addition, new transformers will also be installed in many other areas. These areas include Sector H Mahalaxmi Sweets, Sector G Tubewell Park, Janpath Road, and Dandahiya Market. Similarly, Old Hanuman Temple, LDA Stadium, Ramleela Ground, Post Office Sector D, Shivalapuram Sector C, and Usmanpur village will receive new transformers.
Strengthening the Power System
V.P. Singh, chief engineer of Jankipuram Zone LESA, said that under the Business Plan 2025–26, Power Corporation chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal has approved the improvement proposal worth ₹85 crore. Under this, nine substations will get new five-megawatt transformers. This will increase the capacity of substations and improve the reliability of power supply.
This investment will prove that authorities are making extensive efforts to improve the level of power supply in the state. These improvements aim to provide empowered service to consumers.
